OUR VISION:
To fulfil the call of God to defend the cause of the poor and needy.
VISION STATEMENT
CHARIS is a
MINISTRY OF GRACE.
We believe that God’s indescribable gift to us is JESUS CHRIST, through whom we have an eternal hope of sins forgiven and eternal life. It is the LOVE and COMPASSION of God that provides the motivating purpose for CHARIS through His life-giving Spirit.
We take our mandate both from Christ’s Great Commission of Matthew 28: 18-20 to go humbly into all the world and make disciples in Jesus name and from God’s two-fold Great Commandment in Matthew 22:37-40 to love God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind and our neighbour as ourselves.
WE BELIEVE:
That men and women of every culture, colour, race and tongue are made in God’s image (Gen. 1:27) and dearly loved by God, who sent His Son, Jesus, to save and reconcile the world to Himself (John 3:16)
That God has a special concern for the poor and marginalised: the elderly, widows, the sick, the hungry and thirsty, the vulnerable, ‘sinners’, those in prison and the forgotten. (James 1:27, Matt. 25:31-46, Isaiah 58: 6-10, 1 John 3:17, Jeremiah 22:16).
That poverty and all that it brings-lack of food, clean water, basic daily necessities, education, opportunities, resources and human rights is dishonouring to our generous God who has richly provided more than enough for our world (Genesis 1).
We pray that CHARIS, our Ministry of Grace:
will, by the power of the Holy Spirit, humbly seek to affect real positive change in all these areas causing people to see and believe that Jesus is alive and has come to bring new life in all its fullness to everyone. (John 10:10).
will bring a challenge to the Church, the global Body of Christ, to live lives devoted to God in radical obedience and love, as demonstrated in the life of Christ and the Apostles, characterised by selflessness, humility, love, compassion, and justice for ‘the other’ (Luke 9:57-62, 18:18-29, 10;25-37).
